This unique perspective gave him the ability to see a critical gap emerging in the national landscape.

In 2018, as the federal government debated the legalization of hemp, Mark was asked to consult on a crucial question: could a federal agency build the sophisticated software required to track and trace agricultural products like cannabis from seed to sale?

Drawing upon decades of firsthand experience, Mark's conclusion was clear and unwavering: the government was incapable of creating such a complex, agile system. He foresaw the immense challenge of ensuring end-to-end supply chain visibility, security, and integrity—cornerstones of "smart logistics" that were beyond the scope of existing bureaucratic red tape.

When the 2018 Farm Bill passed, Mark's prediction became reality. A significant regulatory void was created, leaving farmers and businesses without a viable path for compliance. It was in this moment of necessity that BCAGS was born. Asked how he would solve the problem, Mark didn't just theorize; he engineered the commercial solution.
